The wetlands,

a balance of bounty and desolation,

host hardship for a foraging pelican flock.

Drought reduces most

to weakness and self-preservation,

yet one Pelican alights

upon Charity's divine rock.​

Grounded cypress and Spanish moss whisper

guidance towards a compassionate sacrifice.

Then, from its breast, the Pelican gives all,

a selfless gift that will suffice!

Rain drops heal and dawn renews.

Lotus awakes and humble reeds rise.

Our Pelican's love-led self-offering

echoes in hearts made wise​
